June 1989 to date:
Studio Artist; producing one-off art works and editions in a variety of media.
Public Art Practitioner; consulting and engaging local community groups, designing and making/supervising construction of sculpture and design schemes for public spaces, liaising with commissioning bodies, sub contractors, planners and architects; Project management from initial inquiry stage to ‘final fix’
Work in participatory settings
2014 Founded PaperShift; a mobile papermaking studio working in schools and on social/community initiatives
2014 Artist facilitator at Peace Paper Project, a therapeutic papermaking initiative by Drew Matott and Margaret Mahan at Moray Art Centre, Findhorn
1992 to 2003 – regularly involved in facilitating discussion within pre-identified community groups as part of planning, designing and making art objects and interventions (mainly in metal), for public spaces. In this role I have worked with community groups, adults and teenagers with learning difficulties, those with a history of mental health problems, elderly care home residents, schoolchildren, tenants associations, out of school clubs and local writing and history associations.
